Moza Racing AB9 FFB Base

Erg blij met de base. Erg realistisch, alleen wat wel jammer is dat deze nog niet volledig alle games ondersteund. Anders 5 sterren.

The base was delivered the next working day, well packed an in good condition. I only used it so far as an active shifter with the MOZA Pit House software. I have to say that in the 5+R layout or in sequential mode it is working fine. When using the 6+R or 7+R layout a miss shift is easily made. You can, while in a game, change the layout in the software (no tools needed). The base is big and heavy. I first mounted it on a 3 mm plate at my simrig and had a lot of flex. So use at least a 5 mm plate or buy the mount. There is a lot that you can adjust in the software, like resistance, damping, vibration, notchiness, spring, friction and torque limit. I tested the base and got it working in iRacing, rFactor2, LMU, Automobilista2, Assetto Corsa EVO, Dirt Rally2 and EA WRC. If you have something like the Thrustmaster TH8A shifter or the Fanatec clubsport SQ V1.5 shifter and you are only interested in quick shifting, then skip this base. If you are looking for more immersion, I think this is a good base and nice to have.

very precise, more than warthog base on ground with long extension. largely enough power for choppers. But very large and difficult to adapt in a simpit.

First impression

The hardware is/was well packaged and looks good quality.

So I connected it to my PC, downloaded the software from the Internet and installed it. But that's where the first problems start:

The installation software is half in English and half in Chinese characters, a colourful mix. This gave me a bad premonition. I was also allowed to install a specific font set in Windows.

1st test then in DCS

F4 phantom profile loaded and the F-4 called up, free flight, the stick shakes and shakes but no reaction from the stick in the F-4, but my Warthog Throttels do their job. Great, that's a good start.

In the DCS profile I find two Moza entries, other users on the DCS forum have the same problem:

https://forum.dcs.world/topic/357649-moza-force-feedback-base-ab9-how-to-get-started/

Then I started the F-16 with the F-4 profile and it works reasonably well as a first impression.

Then called up the F-14, ultra long loading times then, as with the F-4, no reaction to my stick inputs but only shaking of the joystick.

Supposedly the F-4 is supposed to work, but also with limitations, see video:

2nd test in MSFS 2020

After starting the MSFS 2020 programme and Moza software, the stick starts to shake wildly but no joystick inputs are possible in the selected aircraft on the runway. The Moza does not even appear in the MSFS 2020 profile, great.

3rd test in Xplane 12

Different or new Windows 11 configuration and the Moza software not installed to see how the stick behaves here.

Xplane 12 recognises the stick but it cannot be calibrated, I won't go into details here, just two Moza entries as with DCS.

After three days I `ve got it to work with DCS, MSFS 2020/2024 and Xplane12 but it was not easy.
The whole thing stands and falls with the non-functioning software.
A lot of customer have the same problems like i have, to get it works with the flightsim which i have mention above.
